What is Powerball?

Powerball is a multi-state lottery game that has nine ways to win cash prizes. You can play the game in 45 states and the District of Columbia, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands.

You can buy Powerball tickets at drugstores, gas stations and grocery stores as long as the store is an authorized lottery retailer. You can also purchase a ticket online or through a mobile app.

The winning numbers in Powerball are drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night by a computerized machine. Each drawing includes five white balls between 1 and 69 and one red “Powerball” number between one and 26. The goal is to match all six of the white ball numbers, but there are other winning combinations that can win smaller prizes.

Prize Structure

There are nine different prizes for each set of five white balls and one Powerball number. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. In addition to the jackpot, there are second-level and third-level prizes. The odds of winning a second-level prize are 1 in 29.8 million and the odds of winning a third-level prize are 1 in 1.06 million.

Prizes are awarded on a pari-mutuel basis and may be lower than the amount shown. The POWERBALL Product Group will adjust the amount of the jackpot and non-jackpot prizes, according to its Group Rules, which include methods used to change the guaranteed minimum annuitized jackpot amount and other allocations between draws.

POWER PLAY

Power Play costs an additional $1 per play. You can choose to add Power Play by marking the “POWER PLAY -YES” box on the play slip or asking the retailer to enter it through the terminal.

When choosing Power Play, you must select all five of the white ball numbers and the Powerball number from the upper field. Your playslip must be complete and must contain a heavy vertical mark through each of the numbers you choose to make sure that it is an accurate selection. Incorrectly selected numbers will be rejected.

To claim a prize, you must present your winning ticket to an official lottery retailer. The ticket must be intact and must have a visible bar code or serial number to verify that it is the winning ticket. If your ticket is tampered with, counterfeit or mutilated, it will be discarded and any prize money will be redistributed at the discretion of each selling lottery.

Your winning ticket must be dated within 180 days of the last drawing on which it won a prize. Depending on the state where you won the prize, you must claim your prize within 180 days of the date that the prize was claimed or you will forfeit it.

The advertised estimated jackpot is based on funds accumulated in the jackpot pool rolled over from prior drawings, expected sales for the next drawing and market interest rates. In addition, the amount of the annuity prize is based on the total payments that would be made to winners who choose this option. 파워볼사이트
