Steve Stratis is an award-winning artist and digital designer. His abstract art pieces captivate audiences and inspire introspection. His work has been featured in numerous high-end exhibitions and competitions. He has a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and strives to capture its essence in his creations.

‘Liquescent’ and ‘Tides of Blu’ were the best of the best in the Artist Space Gallery’s Blue Art Exhibition. These pieces left an indelible mark on the minds of viewers, transporting them into a world of fluidity and serenity. Their mesmerizing beauty and expert use of physics simulation and texture allowed for multiple interpretations, allowing viewers to connect with the artwork on a personal level.

The STEVE STRATIS Foundation supports the development of young talent in the field of dance and the arts. In addition, the Foundation is committed to support the advancement of a broad range of community-based projects that promote the arts and serve the local community. The Foundation supports these projects through grants and sponsorships, as well as through its volunteer activities and fundraising efforts.

A Visitation and Funeral Service will be held Thursday March 23, 2023 at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd, Toronto, ON M4H 1B6, from 10:00 a.m – 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Toronto.

In addition to his work in the visual realm, Stratis is also active as a composer and pianist. He leads PrncX, a group dedicated to playing his improvisation-based compositions. He has performed with various chamber music groups and orchestras, including harpsichordist Ben Katz and violinist Noemi Gasparini, as well as Anthony Coleman’s NEC ensembles Survivors Breakfast and Vanitas (in duo with bassist Brittany Karlson). His compositions explore the relationship between classical composition and improvisation. His work has been performed internationally and commissioned by musicians including percussionists Eric Maestri and Joonas Kariukas and oboist Katarina Miljkovic.

He is also an active teacher and educator, teaching at the New England Conservatory of Music. His creative work engages issues of memory and cultural identity, and explores the rich possibilities engendered by the interaction between music and the sciences. He has collaborated with leading performers, ensembles, and artists from Europe, America, and Japan, including the Crossing choir, PRISM and Stockholm saxophone quartets, recorder virtuoso Tosiya Suzuki, flutist Orlando Cela, and violonist Y.A. Papaioannou.

The STEVE STRATIS Suite in the Rothman Center is named in honor of the late alumnus and supporter of FDU athletics. He served on the university board of trustees and was president of the alumni association.
